Original rating, as "Dark IPA". Badass looking bottle. Aroma of roasted malts, some fruits, hint of chocolate, coffee, hops. Flavour is light sweet with a moderate bitter finish. Carbonation and mouthfeel are good. Not the most hoppy Black IPA, but a nice beer regardless. *** Revisit, as "Stomp". Coffee and roasted malt, notes of chocolate, moderate to medium bitter. More on the malty side of BIPA, only light hoppy. Some nice notes of chocolate.

330ml bottle. Opaque, darkest brown colour with average, thick, creamy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, off-white to beige head. Roasty, dark malty and resinous, slightly fruity, hoppy aroma, hints of liquorice, bramble, some coffee, zesty overtones. Taste is bitter, resinous and slightly fruity hoppy, roasty, minimally chocolately, dark malty, hints of liquorice, bramble, some coffee, zesty overtones; lingering, bitter hoppy finish. Slightly oily, watery texture, dry palate, medium, prickly carbonation. Not overly complex, but quite beefy and nicely dirty - pretty decent.
Earlier Rating: 4/6/2015 Total Score: 3.4
330ml bottle. Dark mahogany colour with average to huge, frothy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Chocolately, dark malty aroma, cocoa notes, some mocha and white coffee. Taste is initially grassy bitter hoppy, followed by a watery gap, then the chocolately dark malty basis starts to operate, again some cocoa, mocha, white coffee; bitter, grassy finish. While both (the malty and hoppy) sides are still combined in aroma, they are clearly distinct in taste; and the quality and strength of this Black IPA is decidedly on the malty side.

W aromacie pierniki korzenne i czekolada gozka, w smaku wytrawne gozkie z dlugim posmakiem goryczki, nieco czekolady w tle i kakao. Dobre i plus za fajna stylistyke etykiety.

Bottle. Color: Ruby, off-white head. Aroma: Floral hop. Taste: Light roasted malt with quite strong floral and grassy hopbitterness. Notes of citrus hops. Hints of grapefruit and coffee. Hopbitterness gets stronger at finish. Medium body, average carbonation. In this black IPA the hopbitterness clearly wins from the ‘dark side’. Quite nice though. --- Beer aliased from original tick of Dark IPA on 10 Apr 2018 at 19:07 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 7.5. Bottle consumed in our Captains Suite, Central Stena Britannica, Friday 9th October 2015. Murky dark brown/black with a thick creamy off-white head. Hoppy but with a run of cocoa and smoothness. Could be a bit more assertive on the hop front but it is very good, soft and easy going BIPA, nice. A7 A3 T7 P3 Ov14 3.4
