33cl Bottle, thanks Harmen! ABV is 7%. Black colour, beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, citrusy hops, some mocha, some coffee, grapefruit, liquorice. Flavour is medium sweet, caramel, roasted malts, citrus, grapefruit, coffee, decent bitter finish. Light to medium-bodied, tiny bit over-carbonated. Really nice.

Bottle @ home, birthdaygift from Benzai. Dark brown colour with a a large and sizzling beige to light brown head that doesn’t last very long. Smells roasty, oatmeal, some fruity hops but mostly porter. Tastes roasty, coffee, dark malts, oatmeal, bitter and a hint of IPA (hops and fruityness). It’s slightly lacking in IPA taste which makes the beer taste a little watery and thin, like a watered down stout or porter instead of a combination between a stout/porter and an IPA. Certainly not a bad beer though and I consider Black IPA a style that’s hard to get just right for my likings. Thin to medium body, quite active carbo which would go well with the IPA part of the beer. I’m difficult to please when it comes to black IPAs though.

Hotel tasting with Colin Theydon Bois. Semi transparent dark amber beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is crispy with good fine carbonation. Mild dark malts, whisper of roast and dark chocolate. Hops are a light pine and a reasonable amount of tropical fruits. Littlesweet florlaness.Light semi dry finish. A light and tasty CDA.

Bottle @ home. Dark brown color with a dark red glare coming through when held into the light, medium sized beige head that lasts for a decent while. Aroma is malts, hops, lightly roast, a hint of sweetness. Taste malts, hops, lightly dark malts, lightly bitter. Decent body, soft carbonation. Hmm not bad, ok beer.

BOTTLE CL

Look: murky dark brown, big beige frothy head.
Aroma: strong hops, dill pickle, cooking herbs.
Taste: right in between a hoppy ale and a stout - cocoa, hops, chocolate.

Bottle split with Kenny in the special surprise room tasting, Amsterdam Inntel pre Borefts livener, 25/09/14. Dark mahogany brown with a decent light beige covering that dissipates to spotting and sturdy edgework. Nose is earthy hop, light pine, coffee, toffee fudge. Taste comprises earthy hop, faint coconut, spice, bitter trops, cocoa rub. Medium bodied, spritzy licks - over carbed, earthy hop roastiness in the close. Mediocre CDA.
