We’ve brewed up a duo of West Coast IPAs with our friends at Brew York; firstly, we visited them to brew ‘Thorny Eagle’, which was followed by a great evening in York, later described as ‘some Friday, that’! This westie opens with a tantalising bouquet of grapefruit and mango, followed by lemon and stone fruit across the palate. The mouthfeel is well rounded with a classic bitter west coast finish.

--Sample, thanks oh6gdx! -- Hazy golden, lively head. Intense aroam of grapefruit peels, hay and stone fruit. Mid dry with medium body and rounded mouthfeel. Grapefruit and haym grapes and apricot. Long bitter finish.

Bottled (from Alko web). Goldeny amber colour, small small white head. Aroma is floral, some toffeeish, mild wooden and some citrus tones. Flavour is fruity, floral, nectary and mild wooden tones with some toffee and mild grains.

Can at home. Nice golden color, medium sized white head. Aroma and flavor are malts, hops, bitter hops. Quite straightforward but solid.

Tall can from Winerack at home. Clear amber pour with white frog eyed head. Aroma is classic west coast pine and biscuit and grapefruit. Taste is similar - classic WCIPA. Quite biscuity. Very bitter with pine more than resin. Some grapefruit. Palate is smooth. Finish is lasting bitter. Very good straightforward west coast flavors.

Can, medium stable bubbly head with lots of lacing, clear dark orange to brown colour, lots of citrus and bready maltiness, medium herbal bitterness. Nice, a bit simple.
