440ml can at the Beer Bank, City Centre, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Poured almost black in colour with a lasting frothy tan head. The aroma is roasty malt, molasses, light caramel. The flavour is over moderate liqourice bitter, with a smooth, rich, roasty, molasses, light fruity, herbal, earthy, liqourice bitter palate. Over medium bodied with soft carbonation. Nice, but I expected better.

On tap at Goose Island - Shoreditch, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out medium roast, with subdued honey and a touch of burnt sugars. Flavour is full-bodied, with lots of roasted malt, subdued honey and a touch of berries. Bold and hearty. Good stuff.

Can from HavnensVin&Tobak. Pours opaque black with large creamy brown head. Aroma is intense roasted malt, cocoa, coconut, vanilla, chocolate, soy sauce and sweet liquorice. Taste is medium sweet, light to medium bitter, faint acidic and faint to light salty. Body is creamy with soft carbonation. Finish is long and mostly sweet with intense notes of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, liquorice and soy sauce. Very nicely balanced.

Black beer, thick tan head. Smells malty and biscuity. Flavour has sweet, toasty malt with fruit that just has a touch of berry sharpness, dried fruit, rich chocolate. Good rich body, a bit of nuttiness comes through as you get further into it. Hearty and really tasty.
