Zwart bier met mooie bruine schuimkraag. Smaak is bitter en licht zoet met iets van koffie, bittere chocolade en vanille. De Jim Beam heb ik niet kunnen ontdekken.

Bottle at home shared by puttetjes. Black with tan head. Deep roasted chocolate malts, coffee, wood, booze. Over moderate sweet, strong bitter. Medium body and soft carbonation. I love the roastedness and wood tones, the bourbon has turned merely into booze, I miss its subtleness. But maybe JB is not so subtle I dont know. I only drink Pappy. --- Beer merged from original tick of Basement Barrel Aged - Nr. 04 Jim Beam on 25 Dec 2017 at 21:59 - Score: 7. Original review text: 3.7

Bottle shared thanks to Puttetjes. Black with beige head. Dry hazelnuts, leather, coffee, dry cocoa, dry oak, soft vanilla, red berries, cardboard, dust, soft bourbon. Just medium sweet, medium bitter and light sour. Over medium bodied with dry feel. It's OK but both the beer and bourbon get a bit lost in lots of old woody notes.

Opaque black - brown beer, good tan head. Palate is smooth and fairly dry, reasonable fine carbonation. Smooth dark chocolate laden malts. Touch of roast. Decent fruity bourbon. Trace of banana ester. Licorice. Dry and mildly spicy finish. Nice flavours but lacks the sumptuousness I like with big BA Imperial Stouts.

Bottle @ home. Opaque black color, medium to full sized a bit foamy yet long lasting light brown colored head. Aroma is malts, dark roasted malts, dark chocolate, espresso. Taste malts, light espresso, roast, some liquor. Hmm there’s something weird in the flavor. Maybe a bit vegetal coffee. And the palate isn’t my thing either, a bit fizzy / firm carbonation that doesn’t suit the beer. Hmm too bad, think it had potential. --- Beer merged from original tick of Basement Barrel Aged - Nr. 04 Jim Beam on 03 Oct 2017 at 16:00 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 8 | Flavor - 8 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 8. Very dark brown pour with a fine light espresso head that gives way to a long-lasting velvety lacing. Notes of bourbon, vanilla, cherries, tons of oak barrel, chocolate, roasted malts, tobacco. Full body, medium carbonation and a bitter-sweet bourbony finish. --- Beer merged from original tick of Basement Barrel Aged - Jim Beam - BA/RIS on 01 Dec 2016 at 22:52 - Score: 8
