Bottle [from Secret Summer Santa Europe 2016 thanks to FatPhil] @ home. Unclear dark red-brown color with a medium sized off-white to beige head that lasts for a short while. Smell and taste malts, caramel, sweetish, dark grapes, sweet raisins, brown candy sugar. Decent to medium body, suitable quite soft carbonation. Very nice, I like this kind of beer.

Bouteille 33cl, batch# 138, BB 20/07/2018.

Pours somewhat murky, dark mahogany and with a thin film of a foam. Aroma is sweetish, has some rye spiciness and overdose of that Õllenaut house character, I am particularly not a big fan of. Weird, I am getting this almost from every Õllenaut’s beer, but this one is full on, maybe it’s their use of rye malt? They are using it here, for sure, but still probably not in all of their beers? Taste has some more rye, interestingly different from the rye ale they had as one of the first brews from the brewery. This one here is quite harsh, rough bitterness in the taste doesn’t let you drink it so easily. I am not getting a lot of nuances, rye spiciness sort of overshadows much of everything else. Some raisins and dark fruits there as well, maybe. Overall, Õllenaut doing what they have always done, Estonian-style rye beers is something they are doing quite well.

Bottle, batch 138 (from Koht). Pours dark brown with beige brownish head. The head stays. Aroma is sweet, chocolate, malt, sugar, fruits. Flavor is sticky sweet, candy sugar, caramel candy, malt, rye, spiciness. Finish is caramel and burnt bitter with some rye. Alcohol is well covered. Overall: very good. Rating: 7:5:8:4:13=3.7 Same batch, aged 1 year+couple of months. Looks the same. Aroma is now intense rye bread, kvass like, sweet, and malty. Flavor is sweet and bitter, intense rye, malt, honey sweetness. Finish is sweet and bitter, bit too sweet even. Overall: this is aging really well. New rating: 8:4:8:3:16=3.9 BB 11.10.2017. A gusher, wtf?! Nice aroma of black rye bread, fruits. Flavor sweet and bitter, black rye bread, alcohol, malt, fruits. Overall: good, but not on the 3.9 level, more like: 6:5:7-:3:4(-10 for gusher)=2.5. Will try another batch, and if it is also gusher I will adjust the score accordingly. The same BB 11.10.2017 batch, now it is getting rubbery with slight off flavors. I have to lower the score, since this batch is not really good (unfortunatley I have one more bottle left). Took it from the fridge, so it didn’t gush. Rating for this bottle: 8:5:6:3:10
