Rerate November 2012, 500 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 8.0%. Very dark reddish brown colour, nearly black. Moderate beige head. Distinct spicy and perfumed aroma, notes of various Christmas spices, including anise / aniseed, cardamom and cinnamon. The flavour is also distinctly spicy, unusual but interesting. I’m upping it a couple points. Original rating: At Copenhagen Beer Festival 2011. After reading the commercial description, my expectations were high, but the beer did not quite live up to them. Reddish brown colur, but paler than expected. Moderate malty aroma, some caramel. Did not get much of the promised complexity. The flavour has some malts and caramel, a little fruit, a little spiciness - but too little of everything. Drinkable of course, but I want something better than this for the Yuletide.
