We opted to brew a Wee Heavy together, born out of both sides' love for tradition.
Adding our modern twist on this malt-forward style, we’ve added Heather & Honey to build layers of flavour in this 6.8% classic.
We have changed the chemistry of our water to match the Scottish water profile for a soft & clean mouthfeel as well as using Fallen Acorns house yeast strain to blend with a clean English strain to accentuate the malt profile.
Deep copper in colour, with a rich complex malt base with fragrant Heather and balanced with a honey sweetness.
Expect biscuit & caramel sweetness with floral spiced notes from the heather and subtle dried dark fruits in the background all rounded off with a light honey hue.

Growler from LCB. Light clouded chestnut brown with small beige top. Has a nutty, toffee and malty almost brown ale aroma with maybe a hint of honey. Taste is very malty with a slightly undefined fruity tang and a nice bitter floral bite to it with a smooth honey that is not too sweet or overdone. Well brewed and skilled use of adjuncts but I would have liked some more complexity to the malt base. Still its a likeable beer.

Growler fill from the LCB online shop. pours clear-enough brown with a short-lived off-white head. Aromas of toffee, honey, light berries. Taste is sweet, floral, toffee again, light spice. Decent example of the style. Light sweet finish.

Keg at Awakening Fest last, Gosport. Aroma is surprisingly sour with vague malty streak. Opaque dark brown. Foamy thin light beige head. Sour berry edge but primarily malty and chocolate. Light-medium bodied. Light creamy body. Flat-average carbonation. Abrupt finish. Hmm. Doesn't do much for me.
