Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of OleR. Pours an opaque pitch black with a small, light brown head. Tart, woody nose - not so distinctly Akevitt though. Medium body, tart roast, a little ashy. Not so bitter. A shame the Akevitt doesn’t really shine here. 140712

Bottle (high fill line). Pours with a thick, iodine like near black hued body with a medium sized fluffy brown head. Somewhat glass coating. Aromas are spicy, smokey, fig, rye, cooked meats, chocolate (both milk and bakers), light salt, aquavit, iodine, tar, light oak. Medium char and ash. Flavors are a bit different. Really thin, slightly tart and smokey. Strong chlorophenolic notes (smoke and bandaid). Dark fruits, currants. Infection is light, but pretty obvious. Medium chocolate, strong roast, acidic finish. Low alcohol heat felt. Messy. Medium bubbles, tart and tannic. Acidic, thin and dry.

Bottle from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours very black with a creamy dark tan head. Aroma is chocolate and smooth burnt malt over a very spiritous component. Think there’s caraway buried here. Full bodied. Flavor is sweet dark chocolate mixed with alcohol. Still think caraway is present. The malt is burnt but very smooth. The combination is impressive. Lush. Just thought of salmon, so now I’m getting dill. I think there’s a lot going on with this. Subtle things. Very tasty and extremely sippable.

Sampled @ HaandBryggeriet Beer festival 2012. A good locking black body with a moderate sized beige head. Aroma of dark malt, dry fruit and smooth alcoholic, quite vinous actually. Flavor is sweet, dark malt and oak sour’ich, nice bitterness, vinegar and warming alcohol. Full body and quite strong alcoholic aftertaste. Quite potent stuff, but very nice.

500ml bottle at the Absalon tasting session, many thanks to OleR for sharing. Jet black body, dense fawn-coloured head. Smell of fruity chocolate, dark berries and herbal hops. Dark fruity tartness to the taste buds added by dark chocolate malts and dusty hops. Dry, vinous palate. Mostly hidden alcohol and hard to discern the akevitt part. Nice, nonetheless (Copenhagen, hotel room 12.05.2012).

Small brown head. Opaque black body. Buttery fruity barnyard aroma with licorice and chocolate notes. Sweet-acidic roasty sugary milky taste with vinegary wheaty notes. Fullish body. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dry-acidic sooty alcoholic fruity aftertaste with wheaty licorice notes. Nice, drinkable, balanced, and a bit odd. (0.15l sample at Haand 2012.)

Flaske 0,5l mottatt som gave fra OleR via Rune. Tusen takk til begge to! Kullsort. Ved høy kvelling dannes et ekstremt livat skum med fargeoverganger fra brunt til lysebrunt for bobleskummet stabiliserer seg lysebrunt og brukbart høyt. God aroma av nøtter & bær. Myk munnfølelse. Smaken veldig avrundet. Starter plommeaktig men får raskt et litt tørt & tungt syrlig preg. En aning lakris i ettersmaken. Det kan virke som om lagringen har gjort ølet med harmonisk. Alkoholen er fortsatt godt kamuflert.

Shared bottle at hotel room tasting, thanks to OleR. Black colour, low tan head. Moderate roasty aroma, oaky notes. Dry flavour, oaky and roasty. Decent enough, but I can’t say it is better than the "ordinary" Dark Force - on the contrary, I’d rather say.

Small dark yellow to beige head, fast gone over black beer. Dark fruit as plums or blue grapes; bitter chocolate, bit of moccha/coffee and spirit alcohol, fusels, estery. Bitter-hoppy, and again a fierce flavour & MF as from spirit; estery, complex with moccha and chocolate. Warming up, not only sweeter, but also a tad smokey, and an increasing typical stoutacidity, a tad at odds with the rest. Excellent in the finish, long-lasting and increasing in complexity rather than new aftertasteflavours. Very complex, layered, but somehow a bit lopsided, not 100% in balance.
