(Cask at Gallow’s Bird Real Ale Festival ’15) The beer poured black. Its head was small and lightly brown. Aroma had smoke, dark chocolate and liquorice. Palate was medium bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, smoke, hint of peat, fruitiness and bitterness. Aftertaste was burnt, sweet and bitter. Not bad brew. Mild smokiness wasn’t too much hidden by the burnt malts.

Pours pitch black with a smooth head. Aroma of smoked malts, leather, ash, wood, cocoa nibs, chocolate and coffee. Taste is smooth, slightly roasty and woody with hints of smoke, leather, chocolate and cocoa. Finish is smooth, slightly roasty and woody with some chocolate and cocoa. Quite smooth and balanced.

Cask @ Gallows Bird Real Ale Festival 2015
Aroma is smoky with licorice and leather. Nice. Flavour has burned wood, licorice, smoke, some peat and hints of herbs in the finish. A bit watery but nice anyway.
