Suomenlinna Brewery’s reddish lager (4.7% vol) is made of three grains, rye (Secale), wheat (Triticum) and barley (Hordeum), which initials are also in the name of this beer. Seth is a malty, strong-bodied lager, which ryeish body is refreshed with wheat and a mild bite of hops. The name of the beer is also closely linked with the history of Suomenlinna. Gabriel von Seth (1690-1774) was not only the fortress builder Ehrensvärd’s a good friend, also known as a contributor and gourmet. Bastion Seth still stands as part of Suomenlinna seafortress in the middle of a verdant herb garden.

Bottle from Tbone, thanks! Golden color. Vague citrus aroma. Citrus flavor, satisfyingly hopped. Yeasty by-flavors spoil the fun a bit.

50cl bottle on the ferry from Vallesaari to Helsinki. Pours deep golden with a decent, white head. Mild malty aroma with some herbal hops and hints of fruits. Moderate sweet with mild flavours, but a fairly pleasant bitterness. Quite enjoyable.

Hieman punertavankuparinen kirkas olut paksuhkolla, jonkin verran pitsiä jättävällä vaahdolla. Tuoksu hieman makean maltainen, voittaa peruslagereiden tuoksun selvästi.

500ml bottle from K-Citymarket in Keminmaa. Shared with djoeye and Finn. Next to clear dark golden body. Remaining, loose white head. Fragile lacing. Mild aroma of dried fruits and pale malts. Moderate, mixed malt-fruity taste, leafy hops, nuts, and jam. Resinous bitterness to a short-lived ending. Mid-sweet ending. Easy to drink and okay (Tromsø 04.06.2014).

A copper beer with a dense, medium and slightly yellow head. Aroma is malty and bready, grass, some ryebread, overall impression of aroma is slightly aromatic. Taste of bread, some roastiness and butter, just barely enough of bitterness that is grassy. Light+ bodied, slightly harsh carbonation. Lager with the nicely noticed rye, quite nice.
