A Robust Dark Bitter. Simple and satisfying - the key components of a good best bitter. Maverick ticks both boxes, with fruity British hops on top of a robust malt backbone for a rich, dark ale to savour. Layers of warming, roasted malt, dried dark fruits and candied orange flavours, with a mellow, sweet finish.

Cask at Craft Beer Co. on 2nd July 2011. Reddish copper with thin white head and initial lacing. Fruity, spicy and pungent aroma. Delightful combination of hop and smoke in-mouth; smoky bitterness continues into a long and enjoyable finish, on a zingy mouthfeel. Excellent.

A reddish brown ale with a thin moka head. In aroma, nutty caramel with chalky notes, slightly oxidized. In mouth, a nice nutty malt, roasted and woody, surprisingly good, again. Bottle at Mondial 2011, June 10, 2011.

50cl bottle. Pours a dark amber with a red hue in places. There are steady bubbles and ther is a generous head. The nose is of pine against a background of coffee - it’s kinda cedary. The taste is more cedar and coffee. The structure is medium, there is a fairly creamy texture and a long fresh finish.

Cask at the Euston Tap. Clear auburn pour with a light, white head. Bready malt nose with brown sugar and roasty chocolate. Rather sweet, nicely, with toast, light caramel, faint citrus and earth bitterness. Light to medium in body with fine carbonation. Finishes sweet and drying, with a nice, roasted malt character and some earthy, lightly sticky hops. Good brew.
