We first began brewing Oakspire in 2018 as a special release around the Holidays and it has since become a fan favorite. In 2022, we're thrilled to partner with Four Roses Distillery again, known for their smooth, fruit forward and slightly spicy bourbons. Oakspire features a custom-built, proprietary infusion method to pull the flavors from the bourbon-steeped charred oak and marries it with a malty-sweet, deep amber ale.

Bottle. A- Oak, vanilla, malt, caramel, fried bread. A- Copper color, clear liquid, off white head. T- Malt, faint bitterness, oak, vanilla, waxy. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, malty finish. O- The best oakspire variant I've had. Lots of sweet oak on the nose and more malty on the palate. Drinkable for sure and the abv feels lighter than it is.

Bottle from Total Wine in Folsom, CA. Pours clear, dark amber with a large foamy near-white head. Aroma of floral, toffee and a note of bourbon. Med plus body or better. Flavor is the aroma with some wood and a rather strongish toffeeness. Fairly towards dry. Not very bitter, but wood and bourbon substitute. Quite entrancing.

I acquired a 12 oz bottle of the second iteration of Oakspire at a Total Wine in Austin about a month ago. The first one, not inspirational, but I'll try the Four Roses version with no hesitation. In my New Belgium, ahem, globe glass I view a clear, dark copper liquid headed by a fierce top of off-white foam. I smell booze, fruit and bread. And the taste is a bit of caramel, grain, alcohol, wood, malt and some char. Similar to my memory of the previous version. Okay but little more than that.

Oak, caramel malt, alcohol, and hay aroma. Amber with giant off-white head. Mildly sweet caramel malt, and moderately bitter dry hay and alcohol flavor. Okay body.

Barrel is light here. Some caramel. A hint of florals and some lime. Golden amber pour with decent head. Light tangy finish. A couple years old in my fridge.

Bottle from Livonia Liquor. Pours a clear copper with a half finger of off-white beige head that dissipates. Toffee, oak, vanilla and licorice notes on the nose. More of the same on the palate with vanilla, oak and bourbon that lingers. Toasted toffee with a bitter, warming finish.

Hardly any aroma. Slightly on the sweet side but so smooth that there's not much character left. Hint of booze in the finish. Definitely not worth aging. If you want to get jacked and not taste it this is for you.
