--Keg (2 y/o) at Pressklubben, Stockholm. -- Hazy golden/amber, small head. Funky citric nose with horseblanket and hay. Citric with medium body and well rounded mouthfeel. Lemon juice, mild barnyard, leather and green apples. Mid bitter finish. Mildly complex lambic with lots of lemon juice.

9 April 2023. At In de Verzekering Tegen de Grote Dorst. Shared with the lovely Anke!

3 years old. Clear golden-orange, no head. Aroma of perfumey vanilla, biscuit, dried orange peel, overripe apricot & peach, cake, mandarin. Taste has sweet-sour apricot, peach & ripe green apple in a biscuity malt body surrounded by a whiff of vanilla, low-key funky hay and lactic acid. Tart finish with ripe stone fruit, woody & perfumey vanilla, retronasal bread and 'funky' fruit cake. Medium body, oily texture, flat carbonation. Accessible and far from aggressively funky, maintaining a very enjoyable fruity and even bready core. Nice!

Two year old lambic by Kestemont, one of the new generation lambic producers in the Pajottenland region, but actually building upon the old Goossens brewery; from tap at Malz in Leuven. No head and none expected, misty golden robe with peachy tinge. Aroma of old dried lemon peel, oxidized dry white wine, green gooseberry, wet old oak wood, oxidized green apple slices, damp hay, dried dandelion, hints of margarine, orange pith and Parmigiano. Green-fruity onset, dry and crisp, hinting at Granny Smith apple, a dash of lemon (but not too much puckering acidity) and green gooseberry as well as vague unripe plum; lactic yoghurty tartness stretching out further into the mouth but in a fruity, frivolous, elegant way, through a cereally, bit bread-crusty core. Unripe stonefruit and lemon rind lingering in the end along with a light funkiness (damp hay, mushroom) and woodiness; still, the whole never reaches true old lambic maturity in the classic sense of the word and remains supple and light-hearted, with even a slight sweet peachy note lingering in the end. Very elegant, perhaps not as deep, stern and complex as several other old lambics I had, but still showing every key feature of a ‘complete’ lambic in the right order and therefore conveying more credibility than I was – frankly – expecting. Very drinkable, very ‘real’ and very much lambic: soft and accessible for the genre, but nevertheless better than expected, and no doubt able to produce a decent geuze when blended with younger vintages.

On tap at Grote Dorst, pours a clear bright golden, no head. Aroma brings out old leather and some dusty earth. Flavour is very acidic, with tart citrus, some gentle funk, and light acetone. Totally flat and lacking much depth. Not a huge fan of this.

20cl shared with Ryan, Phill, and Nick. Appearance: a bit hazy golden. Aroma: very nice and noticeable oak, maybe they used the German oak. Taste: along the same lines, some creamy notes coming from oak, some nuts. Overall: nice, complex, and quite nicely balanced for the unblended.

Poured from the tap. Clear gold with no head. Almost a very feint smoked note that really blends nicely, feint creamy oak. Very good.
