Coffee Stout 2020 uses coffee roasted by Dark Matter

For the full distribution batch, Tim and Phil selected a blend of two beans: The first is a washed coffee from the Santa Petrona farm in El Salvador. The second is from the San Jeronimo Miramar farm in Guatemala and was fermented with Bavarian Wheat Yeast.

Brewed with a malt bill comprised of a bevy of European specialty malt and loads of flaked oats. With this rich stout base, the coffee melds with the caramel and chocolate malts to bring forward layers of chocolate cake and freshly brewed coffee, all wrapped up with a smooth yet boozy finish. This beer reminds us of putting chocolate sauce in your morning coffee, late night diner hangs, and early morning stout brewshifts.

Oh boy this one’s a looker! Pours deep black with a thick brown head. Aroma is massive coffee, cold brew, espresso, not green in the slightest, beautiful! Backing that up there’s lovely chocolate, cocoa, caramel and fudge. Flavour is light heavy sweet and bitter. Under full bodied but with a thick creamy milkshake texture and soft carbonation. Lovely!

Can at tasting. Poured almost black in color, thin off white head. Huge aroma of coffee and coffee beans. Tobacco and strong roastedness. Still manage to save the coffee and chocolate flavors in the flavor. Balanced, tasty, more dry than sweet. Really good.

Klasse!

Can. A- Espresso, slightly roasty. A- Black color, black liquid, brown head. T- Espresso, roasty, mild bitterness. P- Full body, thick texture, average carbonation, roasty finish. O- A very robust and rewarding coffee stout. I would like to try the BA version and think some adjuncts like vanilla would be a great addition as well.

Quarantine Beer #112 sampled at home on 05/03/2020. Jet black pour with some brown around the edges and a medium tan head that diminishes gradually to a film. Sticky patches of lace. Aroma of coffee, malt and dark chocolate. Full-bodied with flavors of roasty espresso, charred malt, oaky vanilla and bittersweet chocolate. The finish is roasty and oaky with a coffee and malt aftertaste. Good beer all around.

Magus ja kohvine, röst, siirup, linnased, šokolaad ja karamelli vihje, alkoholi on ka tunda. Hea, aga ootused olid kõrgemal. 3.6-3.7

Can - pours a viscous black - really creamy and slick texture - flavors of bittersweet chocolate, coffee, vanilla, bright tannic acidity - a lot of acidity and bitterness from the coffee without it being overwhelming or abrasive - tastes like a mocha latte with a kick of booze at the end - I dig it.
