Bottle from Fountainhall wines, Aberdeen. It pours hazy golden - orange with a thick fluffy white head. The aroma is sweet, spicy, cereal, nuttiness, farmhouse style white bread, sponge cake, biscuits, candi sugar, pear, melon and apricot. The taste is dry and prickly upfront, nip of booze, warming, spicy, clove, stone fruits, apricot, also estery vibes, pear, honeydew melon, damp grass, herbal accents, sponge cake, biscuit and cereal with a firmly dry finish with a nip of booze. Medium body and moderate to high foamy carbonation. Decent Tripel all in all.

Stable, medium white head over finely carbonated orangey golden beer. White candi sugar, parsley, dry yeast, banana, alcohol. Dry again with white candi sugar, alcohol, esters. Banana, peach, ripe pear, but no excessive sweetness, no doubt thanks to good attenuation. Medium carbonation, medium bodied. Slightly sweeter in the end, but a good 'clone', if heavily relying on the candi sugar. Txs to Stef!

Bottle @ home. Unclear golden body under a huge, foamy white head. Aroma of pale malt, white sugar, spicy yeast and esters. Taste is sweet, pale malt, wheat, spices, esters, hint of citric fruits and some alcohol. Balanced body with average aftertaste. Nice, quiet classic style triple with a fine balance between sweetness and alcohol.

The third beer in this 'Kortrijkse' range, unsurprisingly a tripel; bottle from the Carrefour Hypermarket in the Oude Bareel quarter on the border of Oostakker and Sint-Amandsberg. Very thick and foamy, frothy, busily cobweb-lacing, off-white, pillowy head resting stable on an initially crystal clear, warm metallic 'old golden' robe with beautiful deep golden glow, misty with sediment but still displaying lots of lively sparkling. Aroma of old bread, coriander seed, cold potato mash, damp straw, cooked turnip, dust, hay, dried thyme, unripe peach, 'oude jenever', subtle whiffs of iron, brown soap, old dried tarragon and chicken soup (the latter probably hinting at beginning oxidation). Crisp onset, relatively low in sweetness for this style, with only some apple peel and unripe peach notes, as well as a faint whiff of banana peel; fizzy carbonation, a tad stingy even for a tripel, but rounded and full mouthfeel, if plagued by an ever so slight metallic accent. Bready and cracker-like maltiness with a very faint peanutty edge, under spicy phenols (clove, tarragon, thyme) and actual spicing (coriander), before a floral and grassy hop bitterness comes along to make a drying appearance, matched with an equally increasing, gin-like alcohol warmth, which somehow manages not to interfere with the main flavours too much - even if its presence can be literally felt early on. Perhaps a tad too boozy, but I do appreciate the outspoken, earthy, old school hoppiness here, as well as the lack of residual sugars which annoys me in so many other tripels. Have a point for that alone.

Vrij helder, levendig, goudgeel bier met mooie schuimkraag. Smaak is bitterzoet met iets van mandarijn, wat citrus en banaan. Heel goed.
