Geminus

A Thornbridge classic that we last brewed in 2012. Geminus is a heavy-hitting, Imperial Rye IPA. It’s an alluring amber colour, with a pleasant sweetness and subtle spice from the rye addition. This is balanced by a distinct and powerful hop bill. Selected to complement the malts, with flavours of candied apricot and grapefruit in abundance.

Süß-klebriger Hopfenantrunk, disharmonisch. Der Hopfen beruhigt sich dann etwas und wird angenehmer, das Bier bleibt aber uneinheitlich und nicht sonderlich gelungen. /8/8/9//9

Cask at CP&K. It pours hazy light amber, with a decent white head. The nose is sweet citrus, pine, earth and caramel. The taste is pine, resin, big hop bite, oily, leather, underlying caramel sweetness, orange pith, light spice, earth, playdough and alcohol warmth, with a long warming bitter finish. Medium body, fine carbonation and slightly sticky mouth-feel. Flavoursome and well balanced. A great beer.

Sampled at Borefts Beer Festival @ De Molen, Bodegraven. Clear orange colored beer without a head. Slight hoppy smell and taste, also mandarin and sweet fruityness. Slightly disappointing for a double IPA. Good carbonation, nice medium body.
