A Thornbridge classic that we last brewed in 2012. Geminus is a heavy-hitting, Imperial Rye IPA. It’s an alluring amber colour, with a pleasant sweetness and subtle spice from the rye addition. This is balanced by a distinct and powerful hop bill. Selected to complement the malts, with flavours of candied apricot and grapefruit in abundance.

Minikeg at the kernel geminus 8.5%. very hazy gold orange bubbly white head. Hoppy and spicy rye aroma. Orange and tangerine. Good beer. Hides alcohol well. Carbonation could be better but the rye comes through well. Good beer. 3.6

Cloudy amber beer, small cream coloured head. Nice smooth palate. Rye spice and nice fresh piney hops. Grassy as well with some citrus. Finishes semi dry. A really nice DIPA and best thing from Thornbridge in quite awhile.

Cask at Euston Tap, London. A golden/amber coloured pour with a smallish white head on top. Interesting malty, tropical fruit aroma. This is one complex beer, tastes malty, hoppy, tropical fruit, slightly bitter, sweet and really rich. Really nice but not so easy to drink.

Carry out from the Old Oak, Horsley Woodhouse, Derbyshire 19.08.11 brought along by my dad to a family party 20.08.11 This has the most marvellous aroma, fruity, nutty, malty some tropical fruits also quite lovely nose. However in the mouth it hasn’t held up quite as well, yes it’s still very fruity and the strength is readily apparent, hoppiness has been blunted a little and it doesn’t quite do it for me. I would like to try it again, however even in peak form I’m not entirely sure that this would be my thing. A8 A3 T6 P3 Ov14 3.4

Golden colour with a small white head. Aroma is pine, a bunch of tropical fruits, mild floral notes as well as some slight malty notes. Flavour is being rather similar in a very nice balance. Hides the alcohol rather well!

Small keg at the Kernel Brewery. Pours cloudy gold with a medium foam head. Light floral and spice aroma, pine and citrus. Extremely sweet, some nice urine, moderately bitter. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Bit of toast, pine and earth in the finish. It’s big and thick, oily, with touches of toasted grain. Delicious.

From cask at Craft. Pours cloudy orange with a small, off-white and dense head. Aroma is fruity and peachy and slight grapefruity. Solid grapefruity, light pinewood. Sweet, caramelish and dense fruity flavoured. Hops bitter, yet sweet and almost sugarish. Ends sweet, light bitter and lingering fruity hoppy.
