It’s hard to improve on something with a well-deserved name like Stone Delicious IPA… unless of course you could double the Deliciousness. We’re talking serious depth of flavor and an explosive aroma of lemon & tropical fruit from Centennial and Amarillo hops, all with less bitterness than a typical double IPA. The result is extra fruity, extra satisfying and extra Delicious.
We have played around in the past with doing a double version of our Stone Delicious IPA. This one shares some attributes with Delicious but also is its own unique beer. At 9.4%, it drinks deceivingly smooth and really captures the complex layers of a Delicious IPA!

I spotted a 19.2 oz can in the singles cooler at the closest local HEB. A striking label, I must say, classic. I pull the tab and tilt into a globe glass to see a clear, gold-orange body finished by a long-lasting, parchment tan head. The scent is hops, apricots and bread. The drink is pretty all right by me. I get pine, yellow fruit, dry crackers, malt and a decent amount of bitterness. It is towards the high end for a DIPA with a 9.4% abv. Stone delivers this time.

Can. Beer Central Sheffield. Clear deep gold. Fine dense white head. Expectedly leggy. Piny boozy and floral. Scary easy drinking with punchy bitterness. Smooth and fresh feeling despite the fact it’s way from fresh. Lingering chunky piny citrus bitterness to finish. Glorious.

Copper color, clear, low carbonation. Hoppy and malty, strong, bitter. Citrus, a bit grassy and piney. Far too smooth for a proper west coast but still nostalgic, nice.

(Keg at Barski Helsinki, 20230505) The beer poured amber and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had pine, resin and ripe fruits. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were ripe fruits, pine, resin, toffee, malts, toasted notes and bitterness. Aftertaste was hoppy, malty and bitter. A pleasant malty brew with clean and sharp hop notes. Excellent looks.

On tap at Stone Escondido, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out citrus hops, light pine, and some resins. Flavour is indeed delicious, with resinous hops, citrus peel, and lightly sweet biscuity malt. Resinous and citrus on the finish. Excellent.

Amber color, grapefruit and pine resin aroma. Taste is moderately bitter grapefruit with a sweet malt underneath. Nice for an IPA, not overly bitter.

Pour is a clear copper with a large white head. Aroma is dank citrus. Flavor is again some citrus, some darkness with a slightly chewy caramel malt. A little alcohol and a medium bitterness follow. Pretty straight forward old school double IPA.

Can. Pours hazy dark yellow/orange with a foamy beige head, citrus aroma, adequate carbonation, initially sweet orange peel taste that turns medium bitter, caramel in the background, thin body, long finish. Decent DIPA.

Can. Pours a clear orange hue with a medium white head. A nice soft perfume and tropical hop nose. Very malty, caramel, resin, big bursts of hops. Smooth, seems like 4% not 9%. Pretty good.

Honey color with a small foamy white head that left decent lacing. Lightly bitter and a bit boozy with fruity, floral and perfumey hops. Logn finish. Moderately full bodied.
