A challenge was then extended to Gyrup, to malt Buckwheat, a pseudo-cereal they'd never malted before. This is the result, an Imperial Buckwheat Stout with over 25% buckwheat malt to showcase earthy and red fruit notes. To enhance the Buckwheat malt profile, we used some French hops. Healthy doses of Aramis and Barbe Rouge late in the boil for a unique berry-like experience. Learn more on moersleutel.com/odd-grains.

Aus der Dose im 2025-06 getrunken. Dieses Stout kommt mit einem schönen cremigen Mundgefühl und Kaffee/Schokoladen Röstaromen daher. Nicht schlecht!

Can, tap, everything. Apart from the usual chocolate blast this little piece is packed with spicy notes of rye bread, toasted grains, dried fruits, stonefruits and got a touch of spicy, earthy hops to it too to make it even more interesting. I like it how it’s not your usual (Moersleutel) stout.

Can from De Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Roasty aroma with chocolate, cocoa, some coffee and mocha, some caramel. Medium sweet, mild bitter. Lots of cocoa, roast, choco. Nice full body. Solid Stout.

--Sample, thanks fonefan! -- Black, creamy head. Chocolaty nose with spicy grain. Heavily sweet with full body and soft mouthfeel. Sugar, syrup, chocolate, chicory and spicy grain. Mid bitter finish. Reduce the aching sweetness and it'll be great.

Sample (thanks fonefan!). Pitch black colour, small beigeish brown head. Aroma is toffee, some mild chocolate, a bit toffee and some earthy tones. Flavour is floral, some strange grainy, alcoholic and mild syrupy tones. Still not super sweet in the finish. Quite ok, although very much on the malty/grainy side only.

ABV: 11.0%. Clear dark brown colour with a large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, caramel, chocolate, coffee, wheat. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, wheat, caramel, roasted, coffee, chocolate, coffee bitter - roasted bitter. Body is medium to full, texture is creamy, carbonation is soft, finish feel is warming and light to moderate alcoholic. [20240202]

Cremiger, mild süßer Malzbeginn. Stark getreidig, dabei weich, geringe Herbe, die sich zum Mittelteil steigert. Schokoladig, moderate Bitterkeit, Toffee. Würzig, kernig, deutlich getreidig bleibend, hohe Süffigkeit. Langer Abgang, Röstnoten, Kaffee, Schokolade. Gut! 10/12/12/12/9/12

Donkerbruin bier met mooie lichtbruine schuimkraag. Smaak is bitterzoet en krachtig met iets van koffie, chocolade, wat gerookt graan en een heel zacht fruitig zuurtje. Heel goed.
