Did you know that IPA stands for Indian Pale Ale, and that it was originally brewed for sale in India, becoming popular in the UK following a shipwreck in the Irish Sea in 1827, when barrels of IPA were auctioned off in Liverpool? IPA is one of Cains’ best selling ales: a refreshing session beer, with a subtle hop aroma and a light, yet full flavour

Can, from Rema 1000, Hirtshals. It pours a clear, dark golden body and a small, off-white head. Malt-dominated British-style bitter-aroma with some fruity notes. Pears and plums mostly. Some raisins. The flavor is much the same, finishing slightly metallic. A bit low on bitterness, even for a bitter. Medium body, pleasantly carbonated, although I suspect I’d prefer it from the cask. Short finish with a hint of toffee, mostly fruity. Definitely not a bad one, it’s just one of the boring ones. 110122
