Deadlift Imperial IPA is unlike any Imperial IPA you’ve ever lifted from the beer aisle. It has the strong hop flavor you’d expect from an Imperial IPA but no heaviness that could weigh down your desire to take another sip. The unique flavor stems in part from Nelson Sauvin hops imported from New Zealand. Deadlift’s other component, a simple but fully braced malt backbone muscles up enough malty sweetness and caramel character to spot the incredibly robust hop flavor and aroma.
Deadlift Imperial IPA uses Nelson Sauvin hops from New Zealand’s best hop growing region: South Island’s Nelson. This region produces some of the most flavorful hops found anywhere. These hops have an intense citrus, fruity, berry-like aroma and flavor that makes them unique. The result will surely be a welcome workout for your taste buds.

Draft: Ammonia and grapefruit peel aroma. My friend describes it as cat piss, but I’m more objective. Clear amber, medium head, some lacing. Malty flavor with rosehip and orange peel accents. Grapefruit peel finish. Quite nice.

12 oz. bottle, pours hazy creamy golden orange with a white head. Aroma is very potent on the pine hops, citrus, herbs, bubblegum and caramel. Flavour is delicious, creamy pine hops and delicate caramel sweetness. Most excellent IIPA.

12 oz bottle from Bevmo Salinas. Nose of ivy, and avocado leaves (very differnent hop aromas). Clear amber orange with a small beige head. Flavor is light bitterness, ivy, and a slight caramel malt background. Finishes with the ivy and light bitterness. It seems to me much as the commericial description describes it. Very different hop notes but quite good!

12oz bottle. Orange-brown color, with a small, steady, patchy head. The aroma is quite nice and unique, not unlike the tropical fruit tones of Summit hops, but maybe a little more dryness and a berry edge. Relatively soft on the palate, this is a great IIPA. Reminds me a lot of a fresh/wet hop beer, a nice broad hop profile. Well balanced, really spot on for the style.

On tap at flying saucer. Pours a clear copper gold with a creamy white head that leaves good sticky lacing along the glass. The aroma is a sweet pine hop. Thin mouthfeel with a smooth piney hops with grapefruit and nice smooth finish. Hides the alcohol well, a very impressive IIPA from Widmer.

Bottle from BevMo. Pours amber/gold with a 4-finger foamy off-white head. Very intense floral/citric aromas. Chewy full bodied with creamy carbonation. Flavor is really floral/citric over a malt backbone that gets overwhelmed. This is really flavorful, but not harsh. Every sip is nose, taste. It’s great. Not a hint of heat. Just wonderful hoppiness. All the way through the long, lingering bitter finish.

Bottle Pours out a copper topped with a white head. Aroma is of citrus and light pine. A good amout of malt also on the nose. Tatste is of citrus hops and a rich malt. The end is trying to be bitter and hit the palate but no luck. A pretty ho hum IIPA.

Bottle: Pours a glowing golden color with a small beige head. Fruity aroma, both citrus and tropical fruits. Light florals. Nice syrupy sweet hoppy flavor. Citrus, grapefruit, mango, and light floral nips. Some caramel. Not really any bitterness or sturdy malt presence. Just sweet and syrupy. Approachable and quite nice, but not top tier for IIPA’s.
