This limited bottling of Innis & Gunn has been finished over oak infused with Caribbean Spiced Rum. The result is absolutely delicious, bursting with the flavours of Caribbean spices along with our signature notes of vanilla, toffee and oak.

33cl bottle. Pours a nice clear honey colour with a nicely proportioned. The nose has spiced balsalm would with a hint of stewed apple. The taste has more spiced apple, some butterscotch, some sweet wood spices and then it slightly falls away. The palate is medium bodied textured with a slightly cloying finish.

Poured from a 330mL bottle. Clear copper colour with dissipating white head. Toffee, oak, vanilla aroma. Similar tastes with an overlay of rum. Quite light with little finish. I donβt think the rum works as well as other finishes - seems gimmicky.

Single bottle from the LCBO. Pours a clean deep amber colour with a foamy head. No lacing is found. The nose is quite sweet with loads of toffee, and balanced by nuts, wood, rum alcohol, flowers and mild vanilla. Thankfully, the taste is not as sweet. Soft caramel malt at first, grainy in the middle and a little hop comes out in the finish. The vanilla-oak slightly comes out in the aftertaste. Always nice to see a new experiment from Innis & Gunn, but this one just misses the boat a bit (pun intended).

Smells of vanilla with some oak aromas and some loww quality rum. Im thinking probably bacardi or captain morgans casks. Pours pissy clear and rum looking. Some foamy head. A little bitterness from the oak. These beers are all marketing.

Bottled@SBWF2012. Amber to pale copper colour with a small creamy slightly off-white head. Aroma is sweet malts, toffee, mild spices, some sugary and sweet notes along with mild vanilla. Flavour is fudge/caramel/toffee with some sugary and a bit herbal earthy notes. Quite sweetish finish with mild vanilla as well.

(Bottle) Amber colour with frothy, beige head. Fruity, spicy nose with notes of oak wood, honey, dried fruit, banana, coconut, rum, molasses, orange and spices. Fruity taste with dried fruit, honey, oak wood, banana, orange, toffee, a touch of chocolate and a sweet, spicy finish with a touch of rum and vanilla. Medium body, fairly sweet (but not going too far). I expected something sweet and cloying, but this was quite balanced and tasty. Quite nice.

A dark hazed amber ale with a thin lacing off white head. In aroma, sweet fruity caramel malt with light rhum notes, light oxidation, OK. In mouth, sweet caramel malt with light rum, light dark fruits, plums, alcohol warmth, a tad cloying. Bottle from April 2012.

Bottle: Poured a deep clear light amber color ale with a medium size white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of cereal with some light notes of rum. Taste is also a mix between some cereal with light sweet notes and some light rum notes. Body is about average with some good carbonation. This one works out better then the previous barrel-aged beer they have done.
