Our latest collaboration beer is with Huddersfield institution Dixons makers of unique and delicious ‘Milk Ices’ since 1961. In homage to this favourite local treat we use Golden Promise, Crystal and Carafa malts to add light maltiness and colour and Pinhead Oats and Oat Malt are then used to give a smooth and velvety body. We then added Lactose milk sugar before fermentation and a little premium Madagascan Vanilla for a nostalgically sweet and milky flavour. Just like the Milk Ice, it’s a Taste of Its Own!

330ml can. Pours very dark brown with a large head. Aroma is sweet roast and liquorice. Taste has sweet roast throughout. Chocolate and liquorice.

Keg at HL1, 15/12/17. Light black with a decent tan covering. Nose is chocolate biscuit, roast malts, vanilla essence, sweet overtures. Taste comprises light roast, vanilla, cocoa powder, chocolate plunged raisins, lactic nip, brown sugar melt. Medium bodied, light prickle in the carbonation, drying close. Decent porter ... just a touch to sweer for my liking.

Can from Park Fever, Hither Green. Black pour with a tan head. Vanilla, milky coffee, liquorice, chocolate aroma. Similar action in the flavour. Good.

330ml can. Pours a very dark brown almost black, thin tan head. Aroma of light roasted malts, vanilla, caramel, milk chocolate. Taste is roasted malt, vanilla, caramel, chocolate, light-medium sweet with a light roasty bitter finish. Medium body, soft carbonation, smooth creamy mouthfeel. Could have done with even more vanilla I think.

Can. Bier Huis, Ossett. Clear, very dark, ruby red. Film and ring of beige head. Nose has chocolate ice cream. Vanilla. Chocolate milkshake. Hint of coffee malts. A little woody. Some light, grassy hop. Taste is light, lactic sweet, with some woody bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel. Slick and silky, although maybe a tad thin. Nice balance of sweet, and coffee chocolate bitterness on the finish.

Can from Cotteridge Wines; dark brown pour with a thin bubbly tan, aroma has sweet malts and chocolate, taste has rich chocolate, quite smooth mouthfeel, hints of coffee, quite sweet and creamy.
