Our latest collaboration beer is with Huddersfield institution Dixons makers of unique and delicious ‘Milk Ices’ since 1961. In homage to this favourite local treat we use Golden Promise, Crystal and Carafa malts to add light maltiness and colour and Pinhead Oats and Oat Malt are then used to give a smooth and velvety body. We then added Lactose milk sugar before fermentation and a little premium Madagascan Vanilla for a nostalgically sweet and milky flavour. Just like the Milk Ice, it’s a Taste of Its Own!

ABV: 5.2%. Clear dark brown colour with a average, frothy - fizzy and open, good lacing, mostly lasting to diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to light light heavy malty, dark malt, roasted, chocolate, sweet malt, sugary. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and light to moderate bitter with a long duration, sweet malt, dark malt, sugary - icing, milk sugar, chocolate - vanilla - milk chocolate. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20180125]

33 cl can. Pours dark brown, deep amber glare. Small tan head. Aroma is toasted malty, slight chocolate. Sweet, toasted and slight caramelish. Milky and sweet finish.

Can from Westhill Service Station. It pours darkest brown to black with tan head. The aroma is sweet, sticky, oily, creamy, chocolate cake, definite choc ice character, vanilla, toffee and millionaires shortbread. The taste is bitter - sweet upfront, creamy, milky, vanilla, milk chocolate, chewy, sticky, choc chip cookies and toffee with a sweet finish. Medium body and moderate, prickly carbonation. Certainly does what it set out to - definitely has the choc ice thing going. Fun, but too sweet for my tastes.

Pours very dark, caramelly brown to black. Small, lighter off white head. Some lacing. Smell is lactic, creamy chocolate, gingerbread. Very nice. Aromatic east drinker. Creamy body. Lower carbo.

Keg @ Drink? Hebden Bridge. Dark with a slightly off-white head and a smoothness. It's sweet and rich with plenty of ice-cream styled dark malts. Is nutty in its nose.

Can. Black beer, thin off-white head. Malty chocolate smell to it. Tastes of malt, cream, vanilla, chocolate so it's fairly light and sweet. There's a touch of toasty dryness to the aftertaste but otherwise it's fairly mellow. Not the biggest, beefiest porter you'll have but the flavours are balanced nicely and it's lovely and smooth. Quaffable.

33cl Can, thanks Harmen! Black colour, thin beige-brown head. Aroma of vanilla, lactose, quite sweet, roasted malts, hint of mocha. Flavour is sweet, vanilla, lactose, some coffee with sugar, roasted malts, sweet finish. Light bodied. Nice and smooth, but very sweet as well.
