355ml can. Pours orange. Pineapple, biscuit, orange, peppery, pine. Full bodied. Really good.

Pour is a hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma is a decent passion fruit with some honeydew melon. Flavor is a citrus fruit with some honey malt sweetness and more of the melon fruit. This was solid, nice fruity aroma and a sweet fruity flavor. The can I had was kind of old but the hops were still present. The 8.2% alcohol and 100 IBU’s were not felt as this was quite easy to drink.

Pours clear golden with not too excessive white head. Hops are already shooing themselves in aroma, still quite soft and fruity ones. Herbal kick still there. Taste is superbly balanced, bitterness feels somehow separated from the overall soft melony fruity feel this beer has. I don’t know if its just me but recently many beers feel herbal and bitter, also this one. Sweetness has been balanced out nicely, so the alcohol (8.5% or 9%) is nowhere to be seen! Very nice and super drinkable double IPA. Really need to get to Maui sometime soon!

12 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 5/9/2017. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy deep golden/yellow color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick foamy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, lemon zest, orange peel, light pepper, pine, cracker, bread, light honey, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical/pine hops and moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, lemon zest, orange peel, light pepper, pine, cracker, bread, light honey, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus peel, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, guava, lemon/orange peel, pepper, pine, cracker, bread, light honey, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/pine hops and moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero lingering hop astringency after the finish. Moderate dryness from lingering bitterness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderate crisp, bready/grainy/sticky, and lightly resinous balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 8.5%. Overall this is an excellent DIPA! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/pine hops and moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and pretty refreshing to drink; with the balanced bitter/drying finish. Very dank, vibrant, and juicy on hops; just enough malt to balance the bitterness. Tastes pretty much identical to Big Swell; but a bit more bitter and less malty(despite the higher ABV). A very enjoyable offering.

Sample at GABF 10/08/2016, thanks to my sis for assistance with note-taking. The beer is a hazy golden color with a medium white head that dissipates steadily. Stringy lacing. Tropical fruit, hops and malt in the nose. Medium to full body with flavors of floral hops, tropical fruits and malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a fruity hops aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Hazy copper color, creamy head. Very light butter trace in the aroma, suspicious but not disturbing. But the hop flavor is excellent, and floats over a good malt base, moderately sweet; rich of fruits and resins. Fresh.
Excellent.
