Bottled. A dark red beer with a tan head. The aroma has notes of malt, smoke, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of smoke, caramel, malt, and wood, leading to a bitter finish, where the alcohol tickles the tongue.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of Timo A. Pouts a beautiful clear orangey brown with a small yet lacing off-white head. Sweet caramel and distinct Bamberg smoke in the nose. Solid body, burned caramel and dark fruits, a little ashy and a subtle smokiness. Hardly any bitterness. A very well balanced Smoked. 100511

Bottle. Strong smoked ham malt aroma. Clear dark chestnut color with moderate head. Smoked ham and creamy malt flavor. Nice body. Not as smokey as Schlenkerla but more than Spezial. Excellent.

Bottle: Clear, deep amber coloured, mid-sized stable creamy off-white head; moderate to solid sweet dark-malty and smoky (burnt wood) nose; moderate to solid sweet and slightly bitter flavour, quite full bodied for a beer of 5.2%; slightly lingering sweet and bitter finish with an increasing hoppiness towards the end. Good, good brew....

(bottle) Clear, dark brown colour with a tall and tanned foamy head. Sweet and toasty malty aroma with a distinctive and present smoke-character. Sweet-bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Distinctively smoke-malty taste with toasty notes, traces of caramel and milk chocolate; moderately sweet and smokey finish. Pleasant. 20.IV.11

Bottled. Amber colour, not much head. Aroma is big on the tar and slight liquorice and smoked notes. Flavour is tar, sweet honey and some smoked notes. Closest to a little brother to Schlenkerla that I have had (smoke quite much less, but otherwise yes).

Bottle, 5.4%. Weak malty aroma, not much smoke. Clear dark brown colour. Very small tan head. Has some sweet maltiness with a little smoke. Mild smoke, but tastes all right. Too sweet, I guess, but quite good for a non-Schlenkerla Rauchbier.
