Lervig’s nitro stout is a dry Irish stout brewed with a good roasty hoppy balance. It’s use of nitrogen and the gas trapping capsule aka “widget” releases nitrogen when opening the can to create a smooth mouthfeel combined with a dry but full taste. Easy to drink yet packed full of flavor, Lervig Nitro stout will satisfy your dark urges.

44cl can from Abeervinum, Rimini, Italy. Pours black, with very fine light brown foam. Aroma is of burnt caramel and coffee, a little nutty as well. Body is average, with practically no carbonation. Taste is medium roasty bitter. Final is average.

440ml can bought at Gulating Ølutsalg in Tromsdalen. A steady, creamy beige head over a coal black body, spotty lacing. Plain grainy malts on the nose, smoothly roasted. Malt-driven flavours of creamy malts, dark bread, grain, and a bite of liquorice. Mid-sweet, smooth ending, lightly roasted. Quite easy to drink. Pretty good. (Tromsø, 18.05.2023).

Svart. Lavt tett skum med litt farge. Stabilt. Litt lacing. Lett lakrisaroma. Myk munnfølelse. Smaken tørr. Røstet malt. Litt lakris. Kakao. Vanilje i en forsiktig bitter avslutning. Bra butikkstyrkeøl.

Can @ Brygghuset. Black body under a medium sized, creamy mocha latte type head. Relatively mild in aroma, dark, smooth roasted malt, biscuit and roasted coffee. Taste is smooth, mild roasted dark malt, hint of coffee and chocolate with some bitterness. Medium to light bodied with short aftertaste.

Can from Bierothek in Leipzig, drunk while it's snowing and the fire is burning. Very pretty black with nitro head. Bitter and roasted nose. Creamy mouthfeel, dry roasted barley/black malt flavor with pretty high bitterness. Could use some more complexity. A bit muted compared to nitro Guinness or Murphy's but still quite tasty. Earthy bog bitterness gets a thumb up.

For 4.7% abv, this beer has a lot of flavour. Deep and rich and tasty. Really like it. A Guinness but better.
