200ml draught. Chilled down a bit too far when served at the splendid Mikkeller Bar. Pitch black. Off-white layer. Slightly peaty aroma with bittersweet liquorice. Sweet smoked flavour joined by hints of anise, orange shells and deep bitter endnotes. Smooth in the mouth, but still well bodied (Copenhagen, 06.05.2010).

Dark brown with a small but lasting off-white head. Malty aroma of bread and caramel. Dryand malty flavour with a faint peated smoke note. Didn’t seem to have much yeast character, but a very balanced and drinkable malty beer

(Draught at Akkurat, Stockholm) Dark brown colour, almost black, with frothy beige head. Malty, slightly tarry nose with roasted malt, chocolate, a hint of smoke and tar, dried fruit, juniper twigs and some mud. Malty taste with notes of chocolate, dried fruit, dark bread, a hint of citrus, roasted malt with coffee and prunes in the finish. A slight bitterness shines through after a while. Reminiscent of mud ... but nice and tasty mud. More than medium body, fairly sweet. Smooth and rounded mouthfeel. Weird beer, but nice and tasty. More balanced than it sounds.

Draught at Akkurat, Stockholm. Ruby/black with creamy head. Juniper smokey nose with the slightest hint of tangerines. Sweet and fruity with slight notes of marzipan. Above medium bodied with clean, rounded mouthfeel. Tries to combine the rusticity and smokiness of Gotlandsdricke with an elegant Belgian style dubbel. Lightly medicinal finish with low bitterness with a touch of aniseed. Though restrained it’s quite crazy and fun to drink.

Draught at Bishop’s Arms, Malmö
Dark brown, almost black color; thin creamy head.
As they promise no aroma hop, there’s no hop aroma, instead there is mild chocolate.
As we expect the FG to be around 1027, the body is full; smooth chocolate flavor, rather sweet, with shades of roasted malt and bread.
Correct bitterness; the final is robust but not very long, chocolatey.
Fresh, a very good English referenced Ale, well balanced!
