Tap at Kerstbierfestival Essen: Brewed especially for its 175 years celebration. Amber looking ale with hints of caramel and more tastier dan the regular but this one higher in alcohol 8%.

33cl bottle, courtesy of Joes. Note: old bottle, best before 03-11-2009. Clear light amber color, small white head. Smell a little bit cherries and some malts. Taste malts, some cherries and some alcohol. Low to medium carbo and body.

Bottled (BB 11/2009)
Amber-reddish color, small white head. Some caramel, fruityness, grainy notes. Caramel-toffee, hayish hoppyness, sweet fruits. Aftertaste has some papery notes. This is like the normal De Koninck with more alcohol. Nothing really special.

Bottled (thanks jbrus!). Reddish amber colour, small slightly off-white head. Aroma is caramel malts, some toffee, alcohol and some mild notes of glue. Flavour is quite much the same in a rather nice balance.

Bottled. A dark amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, and a bit of alcohol. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of malt, caramel, and alcohol, leading to a dry woody finish. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a clear amber with a smallish off-white head. Sweet aroma of caramel and overripe fruits. Solid body, roasted malts, fruit and brown sugar - again some rustic notes of overripe fruit. Hardly any bitterness. 161209

(33cl bottle) Clear, amber colour with a mid-sized tanned foamy head. Slightly dusty, sweet and slightly toasted malty aroma with caramel, subtle berry-fruity notes and a good dash of herbal hops. Sweet and slightly bitter flavour, medium to full bodied with a crispy mouthfeel. Slightly toasty and fruity malty base with notes of caramel and rising licorice spice towards the slightly sugary sweet and subtle fruity finish with a moderate hops and alcohol presence. Decent brew, could also be a kind of Altbier-Bock (22.06.09).
