The intensely smooth and rich roasted flavor is complemented by the unmistakable pretence of hops.
The bitterness is held in check, preserving the flavors of dark chocolate.
This ale is aggressively dry hopped with Citra to cut through it all. Hail Santa.

Pours black into an English pint. Mocha head with excellent retention recedes to coat surface. Chocolate, manure, vanilla and espresso aromas. Thick with charred espresso and dark chocolate front to back and into the lasting bitter coffee and resin finish.

Can. Pours dark brown with a nice brown head. Nose is good chocolaty and ashy and with some roast character. Hoppy and feels pretty nice. Medium body, light honey notes. Finish has stronger roast, a bit tart and a lot of hops there. Weirdly drinkable and hoppy. Feels lighter than it is. Good.

Pitch black color. Super hoppy nose, almost astringent, with some citrus notes, tobacco leafs, roasted malts in the nose. Medium body, roasted malts but body is all over the place with massive roastiness and big hoppiness. Alcohol warming finish. Kinda all over the place. Love The nose but not sure after that.

Can into a taster showing pitch black and sparse latte colored foam. The nose shows pronounced notes of pine and cannabis hops. The palate is medium bodied and well carbonated. Strong hoppy forwardness with mild alcoholic heat. Mid palate shows moderately intense notes of roasted malts and a strange hoppy bitterness.

Can, courtesy of Sergey
Black color with generous brown head. Strong aroma of roasted malts, boutique coffee. Dry and smooth mouthfeel; extreme character of heavily roasted malts, even malt sourness, so the end is rather unpleasant.
Unbalanced, chaotic, total lack of elegance.

Sharing a can with skippy on his 40th. Pours thick, black, soft brown head. Looks amazing. Smell of dark chocolates, light smoke, coffee beans, slight dark fruit. Amazing flavor or dark chocolate, cider, dark fruit, light peat. This is outstanding. Wow.

Pours a very thick, dark brown-black, with good-sized, creamy head that quickly dissipates. Aroma of roasted grain, with some hops noticeable, too. Flavor is quite bitter, with roasted (burnt) grain very noticeable, some chocolate, coffee, a touch of leather, and a surprisingly bold hop profile for a stout. As some others have noted, this is almost more like a double black IPA than a stout, really. I liked it, though it could use a bit more subtlety.
