From cask at 4:20. Pours hazy to almost murky brown with a small tan head. Aroma is hoppy, fruity and light yeasty. Grapefruity and peachy, rather dry and bitter. Light toasted malty and solid bitter into a dry finish.

Cask (Gravity) in hotel room Sheffield (RBESG 2009). Amber/Brown color, medium head. Caramel, toffee aromas. Toffee taste, roasted nuts, some honey taste. So and so. More of a brown ale than a bitter.

Cask-conditioned at the Hobgoblin, Reading 8/11/09. Dark amber in colour with a decent white head. Sweetish, bready malts with some nuttiness, plums and a lingering bitter finish. Good.

Cask at The Masons Arms, Headington Quarry, Oxford 27-09-09 Pours copper in colour, toffee, fruit and malts on the nose. Taste is quite full flavoured with plenty of the aforementioned in the mouth, some hops and bitterness add to the proceedings, all in all very nice beer, I had a couple. A7 A4 F7 P4 Ov14 3.6

[Gravity cask at the Henley Show] Strange source for a beer - a solicitor’s stand at the Henley Show (not sure what it was doing there amongst the wellly sellers and dog breeders anyway) was trying to attract attention by handing out free glasses of beer and balloons - the perfect combination for me and my daughter (I had the beer...!). It poured a deep amber-chestnut with a moderate creamy head. Sweet malt is perfectly balanced against a wood, earthy bitterness. It’s simple, but well executed and tasty; it’s nice to see a darker traditional style bitter when increasingly the style is dominated by insipid, pale ones. And three cheers for the best solicitor in the world (wish I could remember their name...)
