Bottle. [My DanishBeer #500] Clear medium brown / dark amber color with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, chocolate, moderate hoppy, orange, licorice, anise, dry fruit. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and light bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to lively. (031107)

Hazy red brown with a giant tan head. The aroma is heavy, almost candy-like anise with some dark malt caramel, some alcohol and a little orange when you’re looking for it. The flavour has more nuances but still dominated by anise. Sweet with some dark malt, some other spice notes and a roasty finish. One of many beers to prove that anise is a dangerous toy that should be used with caution.

75 cL bottle. Pours dark brown with a reddish hue and a dense brown and slowly collapsing head. Aroma is of a mild roasted malt and a rather dominant annis seed note. Classic heavy belgian carbonation. Flavour starts sweet and reveals a slight belgian yeast note before a rather dominant annis seed spice kicks in. I sense a very vague note of orange peel in the finish. Finish is warming and spiced. Slightly too spiced by annis seed for my liking, solid brew though.
