330ml bottle. Cloudy, dark amber colour with minimally late awakening, small, creamy, diminishing, minimally lacing, white head. Caramel malty and woody aroma, notes of marzipan and oak. Taste is caramel malty and intensely woody, notes of oak, toasted oak, a touch of marzipan, low residual sweetness; warming, alcoholic finish. Creamy texture, smooth and soft, minimally cloying palate, fine, soft, creamy carbonation. Rather monotonous, unbalanced (oak dominated), quite boozy - not my cup of tea.

in-your-face barly wine. alc is present in the aroma but in a okay, okay, i know you're strong kind of way. nuts, caramel, malts, clearly barley wine aroma, and very potent at that. Flavor has (unfurtunately) notes of butter, but otherwise it is bone-dry barley wine'ish, with a well dosed alc. brutalishness beneath the caramelly malty surface. Pretty good barley wine, surely strong and potent, and also not in any way too boozy, even at 13%,enough pure barley wine flavor to hide the very high alc. percentage. Good one.. I was expecting smoked something, but that's not there. Doesn't need to be there, i think, it's good as it is.

Bottle. Color: Clear light copper, thin beige head. Quite light color for a Barley Wine. Aroma: Malty, caramel, raisins, hints of dried fruit, oak wood and alcohol. Taste: Dried yellow and dark fruit, caramel, hints of roasted malt, smoke and subtle oak wood, vanilla. Malty. Boozy. Light hints of butter. Bittery and dry finish. Over moderate sweet, moderate bitterness going to over moderate at finish. Over medium body, beloe average carbonation. Bit thin for a Barleywine. Not an average Barleywine but quite nice overall. Nice complexity.
