It’s Alive! is Mikkellers answer and tribute to the trappist beer Orval. It’s Alive is an easy-to-drink beer, with a lot of hops. The color is amber, the foam is high, white and dense. The potent Brettanomyces culture makes It’s Alive continue to develop in the bottle.

Easily misted, dark golden beer, very good foam. Aroma: old hay, strawberries, spices, herbs, malt, flowers. Taste: very dry, malt with pear, bitter, slightly chalky, light acidity, white wine, warming, slightly citrus and vodka. Not bad.

On tap at Mikkeller Berlin. The Brett makes this really great. Aroma is very spicy, a bit funky, something mushroomy, sweet Candi sugar; nice complexity, lots of aromas. Flavour is also somewhat funky, nice maltiness, medium sweet, some acidity, spicy, refreshing. Brilliant!

Shared 33cl bottle. Pours a hazy amber hue with an off-white head. Aroma of malt, dark fruits. Taste is malt, dark fruits, Belgian yeast notes, spice. Finish is sweet, malty and alcoholic.

Bottle at home, massive gusher. Pours deep amber, nose is lemon, brett funk, oak, sugary, taste is dry, tart, vanilla, funky, cheesy.

Bottle from fridge, maybe 8 yrs old? Clear deep copper with a minimal cream colored head. The aroma is spicy, flowery, sweet and fragrant. The flavor is softly bitter and dry with a finish that mirrors the flowery fragrance of the aroma. Nice beer.

Bottle - Soured malts and light ketchup. Clear gold with a decent beige head. Light tartness, yeasty notes and a funky finish. Odd but OK.
