2003 bottle. Pours well enough a nice dark ruby tinged thick syrupy brownish black. Tan head and nice coffee, chocolate and raspberry aroma, some anise in there as well. Very dry and thick. Flavor however, I just dont get along with. Must be the brewery. Tastes like they are using cocoa powder. Very powdery, exceedingly dry, no sweet caramel malt. Huge heavy black malt apparency and dominance. I will say, the raspberries are not overdone and that’s great, but I just dont think it has the right balance of sweetness in the malting. Hops are present but not overpowering. Dry and lightly acidic. Body is medium full, a bit too much carbonation.

Thanks to alcfron for the trade. Pours almost black with a medium thin dark beige head. Thin but sticky lacing throughout. The aroma is like a raspberry truffle. Rich and creamy body with very little carbonation, the flavor consists mostly of raspberry, dark chocolate, coffee and toasted malt. The finish is very creamy and not overly fruity. The alcohol is well-hidden as well. Not much to complain about here other than it being a little thinner than I prefer, still this is a solid Imperial.

I was nicely surprised how well the raspberries worked with this Imperial- the tart raspberry aroma could have indicated an overpowering fruit flavor, but the raspberries instead provided a nice contrast to the roasted dark malt flavor. Finished partly bitter and partly tangy as a result of this medley. The beer looks like an Imperial Stout, smells like a Fruit Beer, and tastes like something in between. Thanks TAR for the sample.

Nice chocolate nose. Dark black beer. Bitter chocolate with some fruitiness but i cant say its raspberry. Very good.

Very Dark in colour. Just as in the Blithering Idiot, no head at all. Poured from the tap and served in a goblet. Definate raspberry aroma! The first taste puts you in awe. It is like they modeled the beer after a raspberry mocha (coffee). Definate chcolate taste, and of course a good raspberry taste. A good beer, somewhat fruity, but not overwhelmingly so. I guess it was an imperial stout, but it seemed more like a regular stout. Either way, its a great beer that you should definately try...if you can get your hands on it!

Looks good and smells pretty tasty, like chocolate with a splash of raspberry. The flavor has a hint of cocoa and quite a bit of raspberry, but it tastes artificial, like sucking on raspberry flavored plastic. The body is decent, and the other flavors are pretty good, the cocoa and roasted malts. If it weren""t for the raspberry part, this might be a decent stout.

Dark brown. Sweet raspberry smell. Early raspberry aroma interrupted by roastiness and licorice. Interesting and in fact rather tasty. Unusually tasy fruit beer.

Great balance - like raspberry sorbet topped with melted chocolate and whole coffee beans. Now that's a dessert beer.

Whoa...if you're a heavy stout fan, then you should def try this. Very hearty, thick, rich and chewy, and on the sweet side; plus a definite raspberry overtone. Extremely dark and nearly as opaque as a beer can get. Roasted malt aroma.
