In this year’s edition we took our inspiration from two Belgian styles: saisons and golden tripels. As such, Stone 07.07.07 Vertical Epic Ale has a deep, deep golden hue and the flavor is spicy, fruity, complex and refreshing. We used four different malts and a subtle, yet distinct, blend of Glacier and Crystal hops to get just the right balance. Then, for the complexity, we added in some exotic spices—including ginger, cardamom, grapefruit peel, lemon peel and orange peel (the latter three acknowledging our Southern California home)—and a special Belgian yeast strain. All in all this is yet another case of us drawing from classic Belgian influences and cavalierly making it our own...San Diego style!

22oz bottle Pours out a clear amber. Topped with a small white head. A nice cardamon roll aroma. With some other spices. Tast not of a Belgian strong ale maybe a regular belgain. Overall not bad.

Clear light copper pour, with a shorty-lived, frothy head that reduces to a rather thin lace - almost overly-sweet, tripel-ish aroma, with notes of citrus peels, strong ginger spiciness, light peppery qualities - light carbonation, with a slightly thin mouthfeel - not as sweet as the aroma suggests (a good thing) - slightly grassy and herbal up front, followed by some grainy flavors and light citrus notes - very strong ginger spiciness arrives lates, with a hint of pepper and mild warming alcohol complimeting it rather well - hopefully time will smooth out the rough edges.

Bottle. Amber beer with a cream colored head. Estery, citrus, bubblegum, earthy aroma. Sweet, malty, yeasty, estery flavor with bubblegum and spice. Hops present, but overall too sweet. Sweetness and earthy, citrus and pine lingers. Medium body. Give it some time

Bottle from Country Club Liquors, Bakersfield; Nose is spicy, with ginger being the noticeable one, citrus, and caramel malt; clear orange-gold with a huge yellowish head, flavor has a bunch of gingers pepperiness, a lot of spiciness, orange notes, caramel, and some sweetness, but not overpowering; the hops show up as a mild bitterness along with spices, and a bit of alcohol warmth in the finish. i liked the 06 much better, but this is decent. Lucky I didn’t start off with a case like last year, but i got a couple for my collection. Update 07.07.07 very smooth and malty with a much more enjoyable ginger note. Hops not discernable.

No better day than 07.07.07. Clear golden amber body with a small frothy off-white head. Sweet heavily spiced aroma with some cardamum and nutmeg. Sweet caramel and mild spice flavor. Rather light body.

Original rating 2007; Pours bright amber into a tulip. Fluffy off-white head with good retention leaves sheet lacing as it slowly recedes. Candi, banana, caramel and alcohol aromas. Sweet spritzy caramel upfront with a chewy fruit (orange, lemon and ginger) center and lasting finish that turns to an alcohol hop bite after a few seconds. Eventually leaves an unpleasant taste that lasts after the brew is finished. Covid-19 Cellar Raid - 4/11/20... this beer really held up nicely. Head retention was good, but did not leave lacing; still had a bite, but I'd give it a higher rating no, and there was no hint of alcohol or hops; but otherwise the rating
