330ml can. Slightly cloudy, deep red colour with average to huge, frothy to creamy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Mellow, slightly toasty, caramel malty and slightly citrusy, fruity, hoppy aroma, hints of orange, mandarine, red berries, some dried fruit. Taste is slightly citrusy, fruity, minimally earthy leafy, moderately bitter hoppy, notes of red berries, some orange, a touch of cherry, dried fruit, slightly toasty and minimally bready, malty basis with low residual sweetness; lingering, earthy, bitter hoppy finish. Oily texture, smooth and soft, minimally greasy, simultaneously slightly dry palate, medium, mildly prickly carbonation. Kind of heavily hopped Irish Red Ale, rather earthy - not bad.

On tap at Brewdog - St Pauli (Hamburg), pours a hazy dark reddish amber with a medium beige head — that's very dark red for a IIPA. Aroma is very malty, with lots of caramel, bready malt, and some gentle resins. Flavour is also very malty but thankfully not sweet, with lots of toasted caramel, dry bready malt and resinous hops. Very malty but not too sweet, with a nice hop profile. Well-made, even if it's not my preferred execution of a IIPA. Good stuff.

Can from Brewdog Brussels. Medium body, medium carbonation. Med-high bitterness, medium sweetness. Lots of caramel, moderate alcohol warmth. The warmth itself is not bothersome, but the caramel is, as is the lack of fine hops aromatics. Only med-light general fruity hoppiness. Average.

Who knows what style this is supposed to be. Perhaps a new style of 'spectacularly ordinary' might fit the bill?

Keg at BrewDog Paddington, 10/03/23. Light amber with an off white cap that dissipates to a swirl. Nose is orange peel, caramel malts, pine nip, hint of grapefruit, residual sugars. Taste comprises grapefruit, caramel, pine needle, candied orange peel. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close spiked with mellow hop bitterness allied to a balanced rising boost. Okay old skool leaning DIPA .. ultimately a touch too sweet and lacking bitterness and some balance. Can see why the onion/diesel gang high rated this!
