Mycket gott

Color: Lightly hazy reddish copper to ruby, thin beige head. Aroma: Malty, dark fruit, caramel notes, some vinuous red wine and sweetish Bourbon notes. Taste: Lets start by saying that I really don't understand this combination of Brunello and Bourbon barrel ageing beforehand. The L'Ensemble di Montalcino version is great and I thought that the Bourbon barrels wouldn't add any positive to that. Still I was very interested in drinking this Double Barrel version because dDvdK makes great balanced beers in my opinion. This Double Barrel version is moderate sweet, malty, notes of caramel, dark fruit, red fruit, red wine and vanilla and Bourbon. Over medium to full body, soft carbonation. Dry-ish mouthfeel, long lasting finish. Still very well balanced barrel ageing as we know from dDvdK by now. Both barrels are clearly present at the same time, surprisingly. It shows the craftmanship of this brewery. Good balance, nice complexity. Personally I still prefer the di Montalcino barrel aged version of this beer though, because I think that ons is a little more complex and balanced. Still very nice.
