Appearance is lacking on this, as it poured with foamy head that faded very fast. Color is of murky cola. Aroma is malt, nuts, brown sugar. Taste is sweet, malt, nuts. Overall mouthfeel seems watery and sweetness is the most notable lingering flavor

Labeled Landsknecht Dunkles Kellerbier (5.2% ABV): Grainy nose, dirty. Clear brown, thick cream colored head, some lacing. Dirty chocolate flavor, grainy. Not very intense, but flavors are fairly easily discernible. Pecan finish. Light body. Quite a nice session beer that isn’t cloying, hoppy, or overly roasty.

Swing-top from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours dark brown with a creamy beige head. Aroma is mildly sweet, darkly fruity and bready. Med body. Flavor is rather dry, tends towards dark brown bread. It has mild bitterness, but doesn’t seem very fruity after all. It’s really hard for me to describe in full detail, but there’s some bits and pieces I don’t understand. It all hangs together well tho, and it’s a really tasty drink.

Bottled. Cloudy dark brown color. Rounded, rich caramel aroma with earth, dark chocolate, plums. Rich malt flavor, lots of caramel and some chocolate. Dry, earthy, a bit dirty. Great balance with a touch of raisins and dried figs. Good dunkel—not too sweet, though maybe a bit thin bodied.
