It’s full of dark fruits, caramel malts, a bit of buttered toast, plum, raisin, and some lightly spicy notes in the background. The spice pulls forward a bit in the finish along with some dark ripe fruit. I’m very happy with Cardeña’s quad. World beater it is not, but a very nice offering and easily the best of their three beers.

Really grows on you. Not usually a fan of dark sweet beers. But this is quite good and different.

Supposedly a Trappist beer but not officially. Certainly tastes a far cry from the legit ones. Weak, bit thin and wonky.

Pours a bit viscously to a small rim over hazy opaque brown beer with a sheen as far too aged wine. Cheesy nose, runny or old cheese, parsley, alcohol & fusels, nuts, raisins, plums. Woody, raisins, dried fruit as dates, and yet again in the background some (harder) cheese. Full bodied, viscous to oily, medium carbonation, alcoholheat. Really a tad lame, too easy. Txs to Stef!

Donkerroodbruin bier me mooie schuimkraag. Verrassend goed.

Bottle at the flat in Sofia - picked up from 1001 Beers. Pours clear copper-brown with a frothy, beige head. Medium sweet flavour with notes of toasted brown bread, stewed berries, a little toffee and brown sugar, dates. Medium to full bodied bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming finish, nips of grape, toffee, some earthy bitterness, mild boozy warmth, burnt toast. Quite nice overall.

Pours dark brown, creamy small head. Scent is dark sugar, dried fruit (Dades , raisins ). Basic, but decent. Taste is fairly bitter and sharp ( for a quad), chocolate, rather bitter. Intense dried fruit (Dades), caramel, not as smooth as I like in a quad, lacks complexity. Not as good as their tripel, though I usually way prefer this style.
