This dark version of a heavily hopped IPA is characterized by a distinct hop bitterness. The roasted notes are rather subtle and harmoniously blend with the hop aromas, and there is no noticeable burnt or ashy taste. The original idea behind Black IPA was to create a beer with a dark color, but with a taste resembling a regular IPA. In the case of this double version, known as Double India Pale Ale, Simcoe and Idaho 7 hops were used, heavily hopped during the cold process.

Draught@TCBW2023. Black colour, mediumsized beige head, which leaves some lace. Aroma is dried fruits, some floral tones with berries and a wee bit of chocolate and toasted tones. Flavour is chocolate, some toasted tones, dried fruits, figs and dark berries to it. Smooth. Nice CDA.

Can from Gedeelde Vreugde.
A: hazy black, stable, foamy, beige head.
A: leather, tobacco, grapefruit peel, fondant, blackberry, black olive.
T: sweetish mango, some sourish blackberry, fondant, bit umami.
F: grapefruity & piney hops, leathery, warming vodka-like alcohol.
P: medium body, creamy texture, average carbonation.
Unusual and Stout-ish, but not bad.

Draft, taster. @Mash Beer Festival 2023, Barcelona (Spain) 27/10/2023 [#6.814 Global - #56 Poland - #15 Browar Stu Mostow] Pours dark brown with a creamy tan head. Aroma: burnt malts, cola and roasted bread. Taste: roasted malts, earthy hops and some ashes. Hoppy bitter close. Next one please!

Sample at Brewskival 2023, Helsingborg 11/08/2023 Roasted malty and solid hoppy, some cola and burnt bread, robust solid hoppy and roasted malty finish.

Can at home in the garden, 23rd July 2023. Pours a dark brown black, white head. Aroma is chocolate, malts. Taste is smooth, chocolate, cocoa, mellow, sweet, could do with more roastiness and hops. Not bad though

Can. Malty and hoppy aroma and taste, citrus fruit, light roastyness and chocolate, medium bitter. Medium to full body, malty and hoppy fruity bitter finish. Good.

Tap at Žižkov fest. Thx S, or S&A, don't remember anymore. Blackish body, off-white head. Sticky, malty, caramelly and somewhat citric aroma, herbal. Smooth, creamy taste, dry caramel notes, sticky slightly, with herbal and perfumey citric notes. Quite interesting and full take on the style, though not the most attractive necessarily.

Puszka 44cl (BB 10.10.2023). Raczej klasycznie choć z dużą dawką żywicy w aromacie, dość gładkie z niską goryczką i pijalne jak na swoje parametry.
