Said to be hoppier than a hopping mad hopi, our rather good Doctor Okell's takes the 200 year old tradition of the strong India Pale Ale to its ultimate, thanks to one of Dr Mike's finest brewing moments...
Doctor Okell's is an extremely light coloured beer with a surprising full bodied taste. The sweetness is offset by a very strong hopping rate. That gives the finished beer an over all roundness with very spicy lemony notes and a fine dry finish to counteract the initial sweetness.
Ingredients: All pale ale malt, hops, 1st Fuggles and First Gold, 2nd Hallertau and Saaz, 3rd Cascade and Styrian Goldings.

Sample at Copenhagen beerfestival. Medium head with medium duration. Color is pale golden. Aroma is fresh and hoppy. Taste is likewise.

Bottle at Copenhagen Beerfestival. Frothy white fair mostly deminishng head. Yellow colour. Heavy grassy hoppy aroma. Nice biiter flavor. Truly to the english hopps. Long nice finish. Oily palate. Why is this a bitter?

Bottle. Cloudy yellow / golden color with a average frothy mostly lasting white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy hoppy, flowers, citrus, fresh... Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Nice balance. Body is light to medium, texture is oliy, carbonation is soft.

Bottle. Pours a clear golden color with a longlasting creamy white head. Fruity malty aroma with some floral hoppy hints. Sweet malty floral hoppy flavor. Dry malty finish with some floral hoppy bitterness in the aftertaste.

Bottle, picked up at Tuckers Maltings, Newton Abbott 14-11-06. Golden in colour, whilst there were hops obviously present throughout, it wasn’t not as hoppy as I was hoping for. This was fine enough but ultimately a bit unexciting.

Bottle, 4.5%. Rough, citric hop aroma. Hazy golden colour. Lots of flavour hops. High bitterness, which gets a bit sour after a while.

(Bottle 50 cl) Pours a slightly hazy, fully golden colour with a small, white head. Citrusy nose. Fairly light body with very fresh, citrusy notes leaving a discreet and pleasant bitterness. Very fresh. Thanks to tbone_ for this. 130806

Bottled. Golden colour, small white bubbly head, leaving a bit of lace. Hoppy fruity aroma with some metallic hints. Straight forward hoppy fruitish and hayish flavour. Easy to drink, but kind of boring.

Bottled. Clear golden, small head. Rich citrus aroma. Sweet with medium body and rounded mouthfeel. Juicy and freshly hoppy. Flavourful and very drinkable. An excellent IPA!

Golden, dark honey color. Mostly vanishing head. Flowery Englsih hops in the nose. Hoppy: grass and trefoil flavors. Suprisingly quite good bitterish ale for this ABV. Maybe just a bit too one-dimensional.
