Dark brown, almost black pour with a decent head. Aromas of milk chocolate, vanilla and coconut. Similar for the taste with an aftertaste of dark cocoa. Not bad.

Near-opaque brown beer, thick light tan head. Smells of sweet malt and a bit of lactose. Flavour has chocolate, malt, a bit of lactose and vanilla. A little thin in the body. A bit of nuttiness comes through in the finish. Pretty run of the mill and the lactose kicks in a bit much as you go on but it's not bad.

Can. Missus bought this one, I think from Waitrose. Clear very dark copper red. Slim and sticky beige foam. Nose has an artificial tiramisu flavouring thing going on. Some cocoa powder. Bit of coconut. Taste is earthy nasty bitterness. Dry and tart on the palate. High-ish carbonation. Burnt earthy bitterness to finish. Hard work.

Can from Waitrose. Near black in colour, with a frothy, off-white, head. Sweetish aroma of vanilla, prune coffee beans and milk chocolate. Flavour had plenty of depth, with oak, roasted malts, sweet dark fruits, more chocolate and a rich finish. An interesting take on a sweet stout.

Can from Sainsbury's Supermarket, Salford. Very dark with an off-white head. Fair stout, but not the most stated in any of its named ingredients - feeling a tad thin for it too. Its chocolate notes are perhaps best in its nose, although can be found in taste too.

Can bought at Waitrose, Southsea. Aroma is sweet - caramel and chocolate - and malty. Waxy. Very dark. Black with a red tinge. Thick foamy beige head. Medium bitter. Coffee. Light berry edge. Then the creamy caramel and malty chocolate sweep through. Although the bitterness remains. Medium-heavy bodied. Creamy. Flat carbonation. Long somewhat astringent finish. Nice enough. Just doesn't have staying power, after a few mouthfuls it tails off.
