A few times a year we cut Dan loose to brew whatever he chooses. Always handcrafted, the bottle you hold is brewed for the adventurous soul. This is a very limited edition and we make no promises to ever brew this style again.
A complex and intriguing original. The mystery began with wild yeast spontaneously fermenting a rich treasure of malted barley and cherries. Unlined Oak casks breathe deep vanilla hues and chords of smoke into this sour brown ale. Our Master Brewer has forged a smooth garnet tapestry that defies description. Wander off the beaten path.

Bottle pours a cloudy mahogany with a slight thin white head. Traces of white lacing cling desprately to the sides of the glass. Aroma is a very nice medley of pitted fruit, vanilla, butter, some slight cinnimon. Flavors are a warm mix of apple butter, wheat toast with butter and honey. Pleny of sweetness with a late slight spicy zing in the back of your throat. Very nice. Big thanks to pinkzambia for sharing this one !

12oz Bottle Pours out a dark amber with almost no head. A GREAT aroma of wood and sweet fruit. Tast is an A+. Thanks Pinkzambia.

Got this in a trade with badbeer - thanks, man! - it certainly does take a little while for this beautiful beer to breath - the flavor after the initial pour was quite acidic and metallic, but after ten minutes or so, it was a totally different beer (what a strange experience) - quite a cloudy amber, with a thin ring of foam - aroma of cherry (of course), vanilla, oak, caramel, some wintery spices - moderately sweet and mildly acidic up front, with the cherries making their presence felt early - these qualities quickly take a back seat, as a big oak and vanilla presence settles in, followed by some light caramel and chocolate - a very subtle hint of smoke, nutmeg, and whiskey comes in before the finish returns flavors of cherry, slight acidity, and an enjoyable, dry sourness - no one makes fruit beers better than New Glarus, and this is one of their best.
