Can, 4.7%. OK malty aroma. Clear chestnut colour, no head. The flavour starts off OK malty, turns a bit acidic. Sourish bitterness in the finish.

Bottled (4.7%). Amber colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is bready, fruity, caramel malty and some spices. Flavour is caramel malts, some hops and quite sweet. Quite watery palate, but still a nice seasonal beer.

Huge creamy light beige head over beautiful deep red body with carbonation. Light, caramelly, bready aroma with a slight roasty edge. Roasty, sweetish caramel taste with a slightly watery mouthfeel. Dry, burnt aftertaste. Traces of wild berries. Quite good. (0.5l can.)

The 2006 edition is brewed on the same recipe as last year, but has been stored for a longer time, brewmaster Christian at Mack informed us at the release party on Ølhallen in Tromsø last Friday (27.10.2006).
My review is based on two 500ml cans at Ølhallen and a 330ml bottle enjoyed at home. Mahogany coloured body under a light brownish foam that slowly fades away leaving firm lacing on the glass. Grainy and burnt malty aroma. Flavour of roasted sweet malt and hops. Easy to spot the caramel touch. There is also some notes of bitter chocolate towards the end. Rather well made xmas brew but the carbonation is too high and the palate gives a watery impression (27. and 28. Oct. 2006)

Can. Copper color and a small off-white head. Aroma is way too grainy, with sweet malt too. Roasted, sweet and caramelly flavor, but also here the grains come through. Sweet and bitter finish, unfortunately with grainy notes here too. Medium body. (051204)

(Bottle 33 cl) Dark golden with a small creamy head. Lightly malty, lightly bitter but quite watery. Not really a beer that makes you long for Christmas. 130401
