Whole Foods, P St, DC bomber ($7): Pours a golden colour with a white head. Aroma is rather malty, and pretty hoppy; much like an IIPA for the most part. Taste is a little bit sweet. The hops are somewhat bitter, but leave surprisingly little aftertaste. Some astringency. There is another taste there that I can’t quite place. Pretty good, but nothing excessively innovative or unique.

A hazed dark amber ale with a thin lacing off white head. In aroma, sweet caramel malt with light skunky resinous dank hops, light tropical fruits, light sulfur. In mouth, sweet fruity caramel malt with herbal hops, dank notes, pleasant for a 10 year old beer.

650ml bottle bought at Vinmonopolet Vika in Oslo and stored in my cellar for about ten months. Chilled down a bit in the fridge before serving. The pour reveals a hazy, honey-gold body topped by a bubbly, off-white head with moderate duration. Bread and spiced citrus to the nose. A bit of everything in the flavour like pine, orange, wheat, sweet malts. mild peppery spices, and most of all apricots. Dry hopped bitterness to a long-lived and smooth ending. Good without reaching higher levels (Tromsø, 08.07.2011).

As silly as Imperial Extra Pale Ale may sound, this beer is delicious, plus it introduced me to a new concept: minty hops. Pours a ruddy gold, clear and effervescent, with a gleaming white head that proves resilient. Doesn’t smell all that great, considering the huge hop flavor to come. The taste twists mellow malts with citric, herbal hops before developing a peppery middle, one that is balanced by a subtle sweetness. The finish brings on the strange, lovely, mint-like taste that totally wins me over. Near perfect mouthfeel; incredibly slick as it inundates you with hops. Kick-ass. (4/29/09)

0.65l bottle. Hoppe is a cloudy deep orange beer with a lasting fingersize almost white with a yellow hue head. Aroma is really fruity and nice with notes of pine, sugar-sweets, tropical fruits, malts, grassy hops with hints of alcohol and chocolate. Aromas reminds me a lot of a IIPA. Body is medium and carbonation is the same. Tastes quite hopy and powerful with notes of grapefruit and some green-fruits. Gets strangely enough a bit thin and almost watery in the finish. Ends up in a warming alcoholic and bitter aftertaste. Quite nice one from Southern Tier.

Aroma: The nose is sweet caramel malts, fruity hops/citrus notes, and a slight touch of booze
Appearance: It pours a slightly cloudy golden-orange color with a decent sized white head and spotty lace. Also, it was a light gusher, not a an all over the place gusher, but it came over the bottle top.
Flavor: It is both sweet and hoppy, balanced flavor - leaning bitter, and just a drop of spice
Palate: It has a smooth and creamy mouthfeel, it starts slightly hot, but the heat dissipates as it warms
Overall Impression: My first rating of February, a completely meaningless piece of information (which is something I'm particularly fond of giving out). Moving on to the beer, I like it. It's not really an IPA, but is has a sort of IPA-like feel to it anyway. An interesting beer for sure.

Hazy gold beer, small white head. Smooth and silky - lots of hops but refined and well mannered! Smooth grapefruit and some orange marmalade. Tasty but not that bitter, just a little bitterness in the aftertaste. Very smooth drinking.

Bottle. Creamy white good mostly lasting head. Dark yellow colour. Light malty and heavy hoppy aroma. Flowery and perfumed notes. Moderate bitter flavor. Flowery notes but way too alcoholic. Long not very pleasent but powerfull finish. Oily palate. Messy beer.

consumed 2-9-10----a light copper color with an off white head...but that doesn’t really give it credit---almost like liquid orange jello~~~~aroma~~~~sweet candy lemon sniffs...light fresh and floral in the aroma and flavor...everything about it is light but well balanced and refreshing----light bitter finish as well....then it changes to sweet (good mouth fun)....the more it opens the better it gets

From a 650ml on 12/11/2010. Not clear on the alcohol content - the bottle suggests 8% but the importers label says 10%. Regardless, this is a lovely beer. Has a huge hop aroma of pine and caramel malt. This is a sweet one - lots of caramel and toffee, with a little fruit. This is nicely offset by oodles of hop bitterness. Not surprisingly for a beer this big, it quite syrupy, though it goes down surprisingly easily.
