Forget everything you know about stout. Forget what you think it tastes like. And forget having to go to Dublin to get a good pint of it. There’s a new stout in town, and it’s demanding your attention.

Chocolate and extra dark crystal malts give layers of roasted, toasted coffee and cocoa, with a hint of caramel coming through. Classic stout, brewed in and for this century. Old dog, new tricks.

Black beer, white head. Light malty aroma. Flavour has malt too, a little chocolate, a touch hoppy. Not loads else going on, I preferred the Jet Black Heart to be honest.

Can at home in Hackney - picked up From the big, local Tesco. Pours black-brown with a dense, creamy khaki head. Lightly sweet with notes of ashy roast, spent tobacco, earth. Light bodied with low carbonation. Dry, ashy finish, fairly bitter, a little dry baking cocoa, ample tobacco. Nice overall.

Can. Black as expected with a beautiful beige head. Aroma of roasted malts and cocoa. Taste of roasted malts, cocoa and dark chocolate. Moderate bitterness. Low carbonation. Smooth velvety mouthfeel. Well it’s beyond obvious what this is trying to be and it pretty much achieves it’s own goals. Delicious but I think I will stick to the original.

can. with some kind of nitro device in it (or maybe just overpressurized with nitrogen), but not working gently fizzing like the ball in guinness, rather, some sort of air explosion and a little foaming out of the can. end result though is very dark brown, super smooth light brown head. Looks like a guinness. very mild aroma, roasted malts, caramel, nuts, smooth. Flavor is a bit like guinness, but a bit less citrussy and perhaps a bit sweeter. very smooth mouthfeel. I would prefer this one to a guinness. Would be fun to taste a can of each side by side. while the mouthfeel is super smooth bc of the nitro, the beer also feels a bit watery, probably bc of the low abv.

Sort med beige topp. Aroma; eik, ristet malt, karamell/mørke kakao bønner, nytraktet kaffe. Smak; Ristet malt, karamell, hint av kaffe og sjokolade. Overaskende lite smak til å være så mørk.

Tap at Rørvig Street Food. Jet black pour with a dense, creamy, lightly tanned head. Roasted aroma with coffee, chocolate, toasted bread, and an earthy, hoppy note. The taste is light sweet. Medium body. Drying roasted bitter finish. Nice dry Stout.
