St. Bridget, a legendary Irish saint, created a sensation by turning her bathwater into beer. What better way to celebrate her worthy miracle than with our zymurgistic tribute to her feat, St. Bridget’s Porter. St. Bridget’s is a smooth, elegant, and chocolaty brown porter. Brimming with coffee and chocolate characteristics from dark barley malts, St. Bridget’s is carefully hopped to provide the perfect complement to its malty robustness.

Medium creamy beige head over hazy dark red body. Dense aroma of wild berries and pine needles with notes of caramel pudding. Dense pine needle taste with blackberry and caramel pudding notes. Aftertaste of burnt toast and hops. It’s good, but disappointing for Great Divide. (0.33l bottle.)

A dark porter with reddish hues and a thin light moka head. Light herbal chocolate with cold coffee, and nutmeg notes. In mouth, a light dark chocolate with vanilla beans, roasted coffee beans, and a lingering bitterness and light acidity. Short in mouth, medium bodied. Bieropholie import, 2005.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) A black beer with a reddish hue and a small, beige head. Aroma of lightly burned malt and aroma hops. Full, cream-like body with lots of hard roasted/burned malt. Lightly soapy edge before a dry end. 200706

(Bottled, The Rover, Gothenburg, 6 July) Colour is black, with a beige firm head. Nose is malty with notes of chocolate and coffee, fairly modest hop aroma. Taste is malty with chocolate and coffee (espresso). Smooth mouthfeel. Easy to drink, almost on the thin side, despite the abv. Tasty, but expected some more punch.

Bottled. Dark, reddish-brown and clear-looking porter with a beige head. Berries, raspberries, orange, chocolat, hops and a medicine-like note in the aroma. Orange, chocolate, berries and bittering hops in the flavor, which is finished off with a citrus-like bitterness. Medium body. A quite special porter, but very nice. (060616)

Poured out really dark as a porter should. There is a thin off white head of foam. Aroma has the classic black patent roasted malts smell and not much else. Good flavor. The malts come off as highly roasted and dry leaving a mild aftertaste. The beer seems a little too one dimensional. Maybe it could use a slightly more complex malt profile. Just nothing really stands out.

Dark brown to black color; huge head. Aroma of hop, some yeast, light malt and caramel. Quite good taste, soft roasted malt and liquorice; but it’s too metallic.
