Looks like I bought a bad bottle of this stuff. Poured huge foam ball even when using extra care. The first couple ounces poured out clear copper in color. After four tries at emptying the 12 oz into my 23 oz glass (explosive foaming) the color was hazy and murky copper color. Aroma is harsh bitter hops and sour to tin like. Taste has a brutal combination of bitterness and overpowering sour flavor that dominate throughout the taste profile. Thankfully a little malt flavor does show up to cut the sourness just a bit. I had to pour more than half of it out. I couldn’t take the sour stale yeast flavor. I’ll re-rate if I ever get around to trying this one again after this ghastly experience.

Bottle, $1.50 from Wine Warehouse, Charlottesville. Cloudy amber with a small head. Hoppy flavor and aroma, but not overwhelming... or special. Average ESB.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Pours amber with a slight haze and a small, white head. Aroma of caramel and overripe fruit. Medium-bodied with plenty of caramel and a bitterness that slowly builds up. Dry finish. 180506

Beautiful copper color; giant head, too much… fermentation? Some aroma of hop, light yeast. Malty taste; medium body structure; toffee; very good hop flavor and bitterness. Very good.

Quite a nice session beer, very much in the English style - limited but apparent hop profile - very doughy, but still crisp and refreshing - mild, fruity malt character - nothing spectacular, but a nice "pub beer."

Bottle. Hazy orange colour with a tan head. Malty and fruity aroma with hints of citrus. Malty flavor with caramel hints. Long hoppy aftertaste.

In the tradition of Rogue’s Brutal Bitter, this one is an english style bitter in name only. A blast of citric and piney american hops greets the nose, tingles the palate, washing down with a fairly clean and lightly caramelized malt character.

Cloudy orange with big, loose bubbled head. Hop aroma with notes of grapefruit and orange. Bitter hop flavor with a finish of sweet citrus. Thin to medium body. Clean, smooth follow-through.

Bottle Pours a clear medium dark golden copper color witha large off white head and lots of lacing clinging to the sides. Aroma is a fairly strong woody hoppiness. Flavors are similar but a nice combo of the deep woody malts and the mild hops. A good match. Quite full feel and somewhat soft carbonation. I Liked it.
